Complete Audio Guide for New Testament Greek Readings Using Koine Pronunciation (and some other resources)

Updated 2/13/25: Finished the book of Acts, updated to indicate that in this document.

Updated 1/25/25: Added Recordings for James, 2 Timothy, 2 Peter, 2 Corinthians (coming soon). Now there are only 2 books that we don’t have a complete reading in a Koine Era Pronunciation: 2 Corinthians and Revelation.

When I started learning to read and speak Greek I started by learning the Koine Era Pronunciation (KEP) or Reconstructed Koine rather than an Erasmian, Modern, or a Classical Reconstructed pronunciation. I don’t intend here to get into the specific benefits and drawbacks of this or any other pronunciation, as there are many places you can find those arguments…er discussions. While there is much that I love about this pronunciation, and it seems to be growing, especially in the Living Koine Greek space, we do not yet have a complete New Testament recorded using a consistent Koine Era Pronunciation.

I have been on a bit of a mission to fix this, producing many recordings myself. Between the work I am doing and the work already done by others such as Drs. Ben Kantor, Randall Buth, Jordash Kiffiak and others I expect that within the next half a year to a year we will at least have access to each book in the New Testament being read in a KEP.

In this post I want to gather up all the audio recordings that I know of and would recommend. Over time I will add my work to this, and hopefully, we will soon have at least 1 decent quality recording of every book. Not all of these are freely downloadable, but most are not expensive. After we have at least one recording of each book, then perhaps my next goal will to make sure we have at least 1 free recording of each book. I’m not sure if that would be worth the time yet, when most are free or very cheap.

Also for those new to the KEP, it may be worth calling out that I consider Dr. Ben Kantor to be the standard for this pronunciation. I have generally tried to model my pronunciation after his, though not perfectly.

I marked what I don’t have audio for in bold, and as you can see there isn’t much left, and I am actively working on some of those. If you happen to know of a version in KEP that I am missing, please share it with me in the comments.
